Emirates Passengers Can Make Mobile Phone Calls
Tuesday 25 Mar 2008
The Dubai based Emirates Airline is the first commercial airline to announce that passengers can make phone calls during flights. Emirates said that the first "permitted" phone call was made on a flight from Dubai to Cassablanca.

Emirates uses a fleet of Airbus A340 aircraft, which are fitted with a system that will stop mobile phones from interfering with the on-board electronics.

Didn`t BA start doing this for a while? I`m sure that they had fitted phones within the first class areas?

No, I don`t think that BA have done this yet as far as I know. I`ll be travelling with Emirates next month so I`ll let you know how I get on with using my mobile phone on the plane!
