Introducing the Samsung U600
Following the release of the D900 Samsung have been working hard to improve on their slim-line range and theyve done stunningly well to achieve this successfully. Not only have they managed to reduce the depth and weight of their latest slim-line phone, the U600, theyve accomplished this without reducing the usability or versatility of the handset. In fact, building on what can only be described as a dramatic feat of design engineering, the grand array of features available only improves the appeal of the U600 further.
The Design
The design is the most impressive feature of the U600, with Samsung pushing ever harder in seeing how low they can go with the depth, and at only 81 grams they have managed to shave off a further 2g in comparison to its ultra-thin predecessor aswell. Given the slim-line achievements of the U600, it gives a surprisingly large 34mm by 45mm, colour display screen which even has a contrast optimisation feature to combat problems often caused by screen glare. To maximise the ultra-slim effect it uses touch-sensitive keys and the display screen slides back to reveal a numerical keypad that only takes up a minimum amount of space. The aspects of the design create a very modern look and give it a slick, smooth feel.
Camera
The U600 comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera making it capable of taking high quality pictures for mobile photography. Amoung other features it has an autofocus and an LED photo-light making it possible to capture memorable moments in low-light situations and even at night time. In addition to this it comes with the capacity for 4x digital zoom meaning you can take photos of subjects that are further away and still be able to cut out the unwanted background.
Entertainment & Business
The built in MP3 player is compatible with a large variety of file formats and easily matches the competition in its available functions. In addition to standard play and shuffle modes, you have the ability to create playlists and rate individual tracks making it even easier to select a range of songs to fit your mood. On top of the 60 MB internal memory, the U600 uses Mirco SD cards up to 2 GB which allows you to store even more of your favourite tracks ready for playing. However, if your own selection becomes tiresome it also comes with FM Radio. In addition to this the phone comes with all the facilities you need to browse the web or access your email whilst youre on the move. The USB port also means that you can connect it to your PC and synchronise it with your Outlook contacts and tasks, or your media files, and handily this charges it at the same time.
