The Samsung Galaxy, also known as the Samsung I7500 is Samsung’s first mobile powered by an Android operating system. The Galaxy is the latest Android handset to be released since the T-Mobile G1 and the HTC Magic. Thanks to the Android system, the Galaxy holds plenty of applications and users can download thousands of applications from the Android market.
The first thing you will notice is the massive 3.2 inch AMOLED touchscreen and retro effect buttons on the bottom of the handset. Despite the galaxy being packed with features it actually has quite a simple layout and easy access. On the rear of the phone you will find the 5 megapixel camera that has auto-focus and an LED flash. The Galaxy I7500 also has geo-tagging and a video capture feature.
Whilst the Android operating system isn’t as renowned as other systems such as Windows Mobile or Symbian, the Samsung Galaxy boasts a comprehensive list of applications. Applications on the I7500 include an audio player, MPEG4, Windows Media Player playback, Gmail, YouTube and personal information management tools. Additional applications can be easily downloaded by accessing the Android Market.
When you open the bonnet on the galaxy you have a tri-band UMTS device that can achieve HSDPA download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps. The I7500 also has GPRS, EDGE and Wi-Fi connections for fast, wireless connectivity.
