Introducing the W580i

This phone certainly sets itself apart from rest of the Walkman family. The W580i is persistently cheerful and goes about its day doing exactly what it was designed to do without a second thought as to whether or not its considered peculiar by the other phones. Whilst the design is pleasingly attractive, this unique Walkman phone comes with some unusual features.

Design

Nokia have provided a solid, slide design in understated tones with some small colour detail. It has a centrally located navigation stick for easy access to the main menu and a tactile keypad underneath the slide screen. The only part of this design that indicates that this is not just your average phone is the different colour LEDs that light up when youre receiving a call.

Walkman

As a Walkman phone its main purpose is to function as a musicplayer. It comes with Walkman Player 2.0 software, and works with MP3 and AAC files. Its compatible with Memory Stick Mirco cards which will hold around 500 songs so you can store even more of your favourite music, alternatively though you can listen to the FM radio. As you would expect from a modern musicplayer, it works with stereo Bluetooth so that whatever you decide to listen to you can do it wirelessly. This is especially handy when used in conjunction with its next feature, the built-in pedometer. It will count your steps, record how far youve travelled and tell you your average speed. Genius! It also comes with the full range of features youd expect to find in a Walkman phone, including an interesting take on shuffle mode where you need to hold down the button and shake the phone in order to get all your tracks well and truly mixed up inside the phone before they fall back into some random order ready to be played.

Camera & Entertainment

Equipped with a 2 megapixel camera, the lens is protected by the slider to avoid as much damage as possible and will take photos perfect for small print quality. In addition to the camera the W580i is topped off with a web browser, java games and a range of organisational features such as a calendar to help you keep track of when your next jogging adventure is coming up.
