Introducing the Nokia 5500
Nokia have produced the ideal phone for all sports enthusiasts or anyone who is thinking about getting in shape. Built to withstand the punishments of all kinds of activity, the 5500 is loaded with features to meet all your training needs.
Design
The design is as integral to this specialist sports phone as the pre-installed software to create an all-round reliable and useful package. The casing is engineered to be particularly durable so that its water-proof, shock-proof and dust-resistant. Nokia have constructed the front cover out of rubber and the softkeys and numerical keypad are inbuilt to seal even the smallest of openings into the phone. The back of the casing is constructed of hard-wearing plastic, with a locked metal cover over the battery for extra security. The Nokia 5500 is seriously shockproof to stop you worrying about potential damage and leaving you to focus on your training.
Sports tool
As a specialist sports phone, the Nokia 5500 is small which makes it easy to carry around when training, especially in comparison to bulky training equipment. Nokia provided a belt clip so you dont need to worry about it falling out of your pocket. The pre-installed programmes let you enter in your age, weight and height and from this information the phone will calculate a variety of training information for you, for example the number of calories youve burned or the distance youve travelled based on an average stride distance. It also has the ability to generate various fitness programmes for you based on either your preferred activity or your goals. And it can do all this in relation to a range of different activities from walking, running, cycling, rowing or even stair stepping in true Rocky Balboa style! A convenient switch button is provided to go between the training software, integrated musicplayer or the main screen in just one touch. There is even software available to download which you can use to analyse the data that the phone records from you training sessions.
Musicplayer
As youre training youre definitely going to want something to listen to, whether thats Eye Of The Tiger or something slightly less clichéd. The Nokia 5500 comes with an integrated MP3 player and FM radio. It has an 8 MB built-in memory, but its also compatible with Micro SD cards for you to store even more of your favourite work-out tracks. A neat little feature of this handy training partner is a facility that allows you to tap a certain part of the fascia to control the musicplayer, it will even read out texts that you receive for you if you catch it in time. Alternatively Nokia have provided a large playback control with the headset that comes with it.
Other Features
It also comes with a 2-megapixel camera that takes better than average photos for cameras in a similar range. And it comes with twin LEDs so that you can even take photos in low lighting conditions without the image appearing grainy. In addition to working as a sports-mate, this is also a smartphone and comes with all the features you would expect to find such as PC synchronisation, organisational facilities and downloadable software for PC Suite.
